Research Assistance

The Society has a wealth of tools and resources available to assist you in researching life in Shelburne County since the Planter Townships of Barrington and Lockeport were founded and the first Loyalist fleet landed in May 1783. There are also records of early Mi'kmaq settlements.

Come yourself or if that's not possible our staff can carry out research on your behalf. There is an upfront fee of $20. to do a preliminary search. Following that is a $30.00/hour fee plus the cost of photocopies.

Below is a list of the materials, publications and archives we have on-site the which will provide an idea of what we have to offer.

For more details on our holdings, please contact us or stop in at the centre! We look forward to talking with you and helping you with your specific research.
